Ukraine faces the major challenge of reintegrating the rapidly growing number of veterans returning from war into civilian life. Many are confronted with health, psychological and economic challenges. In particular, professional reintegration and access to psychosocial support remain significant hurdles for many veterans and their families.

Funded by Liechtenstein, this project implemented by People in Need (PiN) supports veterans and their families in western Ukraine in their economic and social reintegration. The project focuses on strengthening entrepreneurial skills, facilitating access to government support programmes and enhancing psychosocial resilience.

The project provides business training, mentoring and soft-skills development, promotes networking among veterans, businesses and public institutions, and creates platforms for the exchange of experience. In addition, beneficiaries receive psychosocial counselling and support in coping with war-related experiences. Another key component is the capacity building of local institutions. Staff of public authorities, organisations and service providers are trained in trauma-informed approaches to improve support for veterans and their families.

Through this project, Liechtenstein contributes to social stability, the economic self-reliance of veterans and the long-term reconstruction of Ukraine.
