Emergency Relief and Resilience Building in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The humanitarian situation in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is characterised by armed conflict, displacement, food insecurity, disease outbreaks and severely weakened basic services. The provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri are particularly affected.
In 2026, Liechtenstein is supporting two projects implemented by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). CHF 250,000 will be provided to Medair for emergency assistance in the areas of health, nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and protection. A further CHF 200,000 will be allocated to Solidarités International for multi-sector emergency assistance, food security, livelihoods support and WASH interventions in the Beni territory.
Through this contribution, Liechtenstein helps ensure access to essential services for highly vulnerable populations and strengthens the resilience of communities affected by conflict and displacement.
Project goals
Provide life-saving assistance to people affected by conflict and displacement in the areas of health, nutrition, protection, and water, sanitation and hygiene.
