Farmer families thrive in a healthy and revived ecosystem (Tiilegré)
Restoring and maintaining soil fertility is a key challenge in Burkina Faso, exacerbated by a multifaceted crisis.
Through its bundle of activities that combine natural resource management with increased food security and alternative income-generating activities, newTree, with its Burkinabe counterpart tiipaalga, contributes to reduce pressure on local ecosystems and to improve the food security and resilience of farming families.
Project goals
Promoting the restoration of vegetation cover, the regeneration of natural ecosystems, and the socioeconomic development of farming families through plots of land that they actively manage and protect (Mise en Défens).
Increasing the quality and quantity of agricultural productivity and improving food security for farming families through targeted training, the application of agroecological techniques and supported natural regeneration, promoting the exchange of experiences, and strengthening income opportunities, particularly in women's community gardens.
Self-determined farming families who are aware of their potential manage their activities and farms efficiently and sustainably.
