When human rights are violated, robust evidence and reliable data are essential for establishing the truth, ensuring accountability, and enabling affected individuals to access justice. For nearly 40 years, the NGO Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems (HURIDOCS) has supported human rights defenders and civil society organisations in securely collecting, managing and using evidence of human rights violations for legal and policy processes.

In a context of increasing crises, repression, disinformation and cyberattacks, the need for secure and sustainable documentation systems continues to grow. Many organisations, particularly those that are locally rooted and operate with limited resources, lack the necessary technical capacity. HURIDOCS addresses this need through the further development of the open-source platform Uwazi, a secure and user-friendly infrastructure for documenting and analysing human rights violations.

At the same time, the Documentation Fund enables particularly resource-constrained organisations to access free of charge or heavily subsidised technical support.
The project helps to strengthen the preservation of evidence, identify patterns of human rights violations, and support judicial, transitional justice and advocacy processes. Liechtenstein has been supporting HURIDOCS' activities for several years.
