Assistance and rehabilitation measures for mine victims
In many countries, every day people are at risk of falling victim to mines, cluster munitions and explosive remnants of war. The International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, is committed to helping these victims with its "Special Appeal Disability and Mine Action" programme.
The programme's individual projects support, among other things, the physical rehabilitation of mine victims and people with disabilities in conflict areas. The measures also include, for example, training to educate the population about the dangers and safe behaviour in areas contaminated by mines. The ICRC also works together with the national authorities responsible for mine clearance. As a contracting member state in the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling, production and transfer of anti-personnel mines, Liechtenstein's contribution supports global efforts to clear mines and help mine victims.
