Emergency Humanitarian Assistance in Lebanon
Following the renewed escalation of violence in Lebanon since March 2026, the humanitarian situation in the country has deteriorated dramatically. Airstrikes and military operations have resulted in significant civilian casualties, widespread displacement, and extensive damage to housing, infrastructure and essential services. Beirut, southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley have been particularly affected. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is responding to the urgent needs of internally displaced persons and migrants, who are often excluded from mainstream humanitarian assistance.
Liechtenstein is supporting these efforts with a contribution of CHF 100'000. The focus is on life-saving emergency assistance, protection measures for particularly vulnerable groups, and the stabilisation of basic services in a country already under considerable strain.
Project goals
Ensuring life-saving basic services (healthcare, water, sanitation and hygiene, and shelter), as well as cash assistance to meet the most urgent needs of internally displaced persons and migrants
Protecting particularly vulnerable groups through migration-related protection measures, legal assistance and psychosocial support
Strengthening government capacities and improving coordination in the management of shelters and displacement movements
Contributing to the stabilisation of essential services and enhancing the resilience of affected communities
