The humanitarian situation in Palestine remains extremely critical. Despite extensive relief efforts since the escalation in October 2023, food security continues to be at risk. At the same time, economic living conditions are deteriorating. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has been able to provide regular food and nutrition assistance to up to 1.6 million people, making a significant contribution to preventing a further worsening of the situation.

In Gaza, the World Food Programme combines cash transfers and food rations with support for bakeries, the provision of hot meals, and nutrition and school feeding programmes. The most vulnerable households receive monthly cash assistance and wheat flour. Other vulnerable households are supported through reduced cash assistance. Food parcels and wheat flour help cover the immediate basic needs of affected families.

However, due to a substantial funding shortfall, the World Food Programme is increasingly required to focus its assistance on the most vulnerable population groups. Without additional funding, further reductions in aid are likely, which would have a direct impact on the food security of hundreds of thousands of people. Liechtenstein supports these emergency relief efforts, thereby helping to maintain life-saving food assistance and protect the most vulnerable households from hunger and malnutrition.
