Humanitarian coordination by OCHA in Afghanistan: aid for millions in acute need
Afghanistan is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is providing strategically coordinated aid. Every contribution strengthens international cooperation and increases impact.
Since the de facto authorities took power in 2021, the situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated dramatically. Conflict, economic hardship, natural disasters and the return of refugees are further exacerbating the situation. The recent earthquakes in Kunar, Nangarhar and Laghman have further exacerbated the hardship.
OCHA, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, ensures that aid reaches those who need it most. It coordinates measures between UN organisations, NGOs and government agencies, identifies gaps, prioritises needs and pays particular attention to vulnerable groups such as women, children, returnees and people with disabilities.
Liechtenstein's contribution supports international coordination in one of the most underfunded crisis contexts worldwide, thereby strengthening the impact and transparency of humanitarian aid.
