The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assesses the state of scientific knowledge on climate change on behalf of the international community. While it does not conduct research itself, it provides governments around the world with robust and independent evidence for informed decision-making. Its findings are published in regular assessment reports.

The IPCC is currently in its seventh assessment cycle, which includes several thematic reports covering the scientific basis of climate change, its impacts and adaptation options, as well as measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

IPCC reports provide a key foundation for the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Liechtenstein also bases its climate policy on this established scientific evidence and takes IPCC findings into account when further developing its national climate targets.
